Syria & Jordan
September 2010
We began our adventure in Damascus during the last six or seven days of Ramadan. Our travels in Syria involved a mix of public transport, trains, and private taxis. While in Damascus, we took a day trip to Maaloula, which was a highlight. Following that, we hopped on a train to Hama, where we enjoyed several day excursions. Our journey then led us to Latakia for a couple of days, and from there, we made our way to Aleppo.

After two more days in Palmyra, we crossed into Jordan via taxi from Damascus. In Amman, we rented a car and set off for Madaba, where we spent a few days exploring. We also made time for a visit to the Dead Sea before driving along the King's Highway to Wadi Musa, the lovely town close to Petra.

After soaking in the wonders of Petra and Little Petra, we traveled to Wadi Rum, spending two delightful days and a night in a Bedouin desert camp. Our next stop was the Red Sea and the vibrant town of Aqaba. Back in Madaba, we made a trip to Jerash before returning to Amman. We dropped off our rental car and took a taxi back to Damascus, where we spent a few more days before flying home.
